So, folks, we have a NEW show time this semester! And there is nothing else you are doing from 10:30am to 12:00pm on Sundays. I know that there isn't. Seriously.

We will try to start recording it again. (We're sorry we failed at doing that so much last semester.)

And then you will be able to listen to it every second of every day!

First Show of Fall Semester

This is the first show at our regular time for the fall semester. I think you'll be pleased.

It begins with a request for "any song from the 90's" and ends with Julia announcing that we'll be playing Sam Cooke. Unfortunately, Sam Coooke did not make it onto the recording. We played "Another Saturday Night" soooo... you can just listen to that yourself. If you don't have it, I highly recommend downloading it.

Interim Show!

So, we had an interim show on Labor Day! Of course, it was partially Labor Day themed and we had a fantastic time. Special guest Katie Baldonieri contributed a few different segments, and the three of us enjoyed being back on WOBC. We'll be on again on Wednesday night from 9-11, so listen in!

There's a little glitch at the beginning, but other than that everything should play smoothly.

Our Post-Folk Fest Show! It went pretty well. Some special times with some special people.

Mr. Greg Connuck was on the show with us this morning. He played two songs: Hudson Valley Line and Julie. And though he has no more shows this semester, he will be floating around New York this summer (perhaps at the Sidewalk Cafe) playing open-mics and the like and will keep on playing here at Oberlin in subsequent years.

Pre-Folk Fest SHOW!

So, the Oberlin Folk Fest was this last weekend. IT WAS AWESOME! It featured as headliners Girlyman, The Duhks, Sean Hayes, and the Sweetback Sisters. Three of whom are featured on the show this week. We didn't have The Sweetback Sisters on it because we were unaware of how AWESOME they are. They were really, really good, and we might go ahead and feature them more often.

All of the acts were amazing and delightful. And it's hard to not be in awe of their ridiculous brilliance.

Speaking of brilliance....(Who brought a segue?)

Next Thursday at 9am on wobc.org or 91.5fm, we will be having a special guest. He played at Folk Fest and was quite spectacular. Mr. Greg Connuck will be on the show. Stay tuned, people. This only gets more exciting.

P.S. Sophie and I are the Folk Directors for WOBC next year, so only excellent folk programming will persist.

This was the first time in In Anticipation of a Stew history where we had a special guest musician playing in the studio! She, Bethel Steele, was EXCELLENT! Because one of our PSAs was somehow lost in the recording process, we have a very special BPSA (that's a blog public service announcement) for those of you listening online.

So, if you happen to actually attend Oberlin College, you know that Thursday is the best day of the week. Why? Well, obviously you get to listen to In Anticipation of a Stew in the morning. But then you think what if I want to listen to Julia and Sophie at night?

You're in luck! By night Julia and Sophie are members of the esteemed Writing Associates Program, working their compositional magic on Thursdays from 10pm-1am in the Writing Center in Mudd.

March 12 Show

This show was so good! Or at least the playlist was... We had a few li'l mess ups on the talking, but it doesn't matter because today is a Happy Day! For instance, it's Kate Hampilos' birthday today, and she requested a song (which is what Julia is referring to in the beginning of the recording), which was by The Heartless Bastards and called "All This Time" but is not actually included in the recorded show.

The PSAs were a little wonky today. There was an incident with an ankle and a chair, which then culminated in laughter and the screwed up delivery of a PSA about global warming. And for some reason, one of the PSAs was not recorded, so you will never know about how to eat healthy. But you should remember one thing: Now is not the time to diet.
